ADMISSIONS


Every year, we’re proud to welcome international students to CUSAT as integral members of our student body. International CUSAT students bring fresh perspectives to the classroom, new approaches to solving the world’s problems, unmistakable vitality to campus life and a strong drive to succeed in a rigorous academic environment. Currently CUSAT is a home to international scholars from different countries across the globe
15% of seats are reserved as supernumerary in all Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes for International candidates, subject to availability of Infrastructure.

Admission procedure


International students are exempted from the requirement of admission tests for the academic programs of the University. They can apply either on self-financing basis or through different scholarship schemes.

Direct Admissions

The International students seeking direct admission at CUSAT are required to submit their application online, for the academic programs of the University, on payment of US$110/- by way of Demand Draft/Pay order/ any other instrument (which does not involve any collection charges on the part of the University) in favor of Registrar, CUSAT
Applicants who have successfully registered online with CUSAT may forward an advance copy of the confirmation page along with the payment details and the documents listed below to the Director, Office of International Relations, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi – 682022, Kerala, India
  1. Curriculum vitae
  2. Demand Draft or Pay Order that does not involve any collection charges from the part of CUSAT
    for US$110/- drawn in favor of Registrar, CUSAT payable at Ernakulam
  3. Copies of mark lists / transcripts of the qualifying examinations undergone
  4. Two copies of recent passport size photographs
  5. Character certificate from the Head of the Institution last studied
  6. Reference letters from two persons who have intimate knowledge of their academic capabilities
  7. Copy of Passport

    * Students from Nepal do not require a student visa for studying in India. But they should forward a copy of the Nepal citizenship card to the Embassy of India in Kathmandu for verification and for onward transmission to CUSAT


The international candidates who have secured admission at CUSAT have to produce an Equivalence Certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) within six months after joining the program. The necessary information including Application form for Equivalence Certificate can be had from https://aiu.ac.in/evaluation.php
The academic year of CUSAT commences in July every year. Please read the Instructions carefully before proceeding with the Online Registration

SII (Study In India)


The Study in India is a flagship program by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India (official website -  https://www.studyinindia.gov.in). The programme aims to make India the preferred destination for education leveraging value for money and globally competitive standard of education
SII provides two different schemes for international students namely Scholarships and fee waiver. The concession offered under the tuition fee waiver scheme do not cover the accommodation and canteen costs.  
The scholarship under the SII is fixed based on an online exam for students seeking scholarships under the Study in India programme - Performance Rating of Applicants through Global Aptitude Test for Indian Institutes abbreviated as ‘PRAGATII’ which was formerly known as the Indian Scholastic Assessment (Ind-SAT). It is a standardized online exam for students seeking scholarships under the Study in India programme. This exam is conducted to evaluate the capability and diligence of students applying to pursue higher education in India. The scores obtained by the candidates in the PRAGATII exam serve as a criterion to shortlist the meritorious students for the allocation of Study in India Scholarship
